Event Photography for Corporate Event at The Treehouse, London

AI-Powered Sales Growth

My client, Hubspot, organised a 100 person live event at the beautiful hotel The Treehouse in Oxford Circus to promote their new Ai powered services. The breathtaking views and sleek branding materials made my job incredibly easy!

Delicious Food and Views

The incredible freshly prepared food went down particularly well with the guests and looked great on camera alongside the breathtaking views of central London’s skyline. The food was a brunch combining British and Latin American cuisine resulting in bold flavours and vibrant colours.

Candid Event Photography

My job was to capture natural images of the guests enjoying themselves, networking and listening to the presentation. Most of the guests were the founders of startups within the tech industry so conversation flowed easily amongst, all I needed to do was frame the shot, exposure correctly and wait for right moment to pull the trigger.

What Kind of Lens is Best for Event Photography?

As with most photography, it comes down to personal preference as there are lots of different viable options! Personally, I love the dramatic cinema-esque look that is achieved with super wide aperture (f1.4) lenses. That’s why I used Sigma Art lenses and over the years I have collected a number of them. The ones I regularly use are as follows:

  • 24mm f1.4

  • 35mm f1.4

  • 85mm f1.4

I have a lens holder on my belt so I can quickly change on the fly. You can see the gorgeous look it gives the images in the example below.

How to Capture Candid Imagery During a Corporate Event

My role as an event photographer is to be as inconspicuous as possible, to blend in with the crowd and avoid detection so that everyone’s guard is down and their relaxed demeanour can be captured authentically.

To do this I try to keep to the walls of the venue where possible so that I am not in the centre of space, drawing attention.

Another technique I employ is to hide behind other people or shoot through crowds so that the subject is unaware of my presence.

My final tip for this blog is use a longer focal length lens, for example, I use a 85mm to really “snipe” smiles from across the room without anyone seeing me and becoming awkward!
